About Me
I originally majored in French literature and worked as a teacher
and then as an employment and training specialist. I first encountered
computers while taking business courses at Seattle University in the
early 70s. Since then, I've worked in a variety of roles in what we
now call the Information Technology field. Most recently, I have been on my own as a
consultant and contract developer. If you want more info about my
professional background, you can look at one of my sites at www.charliepoole.org
or www.pooleconsulting.com.
The classes I'm teaching cover a lot of material that is
very relevant in today's jobs. Each week, to help keep things focused,
I give a short talk that relates what we are studying to the world of
work. Students taking these classes need to keep up with readings
and homework assignments and take good notes. Exams cover
material from the text, outside readings and research as well as
lectures. You can check out what's specifically required in any of the
classes by looking at the syllabus
or frequently asked questions on this web site.
The Photo
Yes, that's really me - on my first day of school. The tie turned
out to be unacceptable and a regulation one was found for the next
day.
